Welcome to the dedicated community consultation page for Infinium Logistics' proposals to develop a new electric vehicle charging hub on Sopwith Way, Weybridge.
Infinium Logistics is the European asset management specialist leading the rapid energy transition of commercial transport through the development and operation of large-scale EV charging infrastructure.
The facility will be an electric vehicle charging hub in an already established commercial and industrial estate area. It will provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure for 552 fleet vehicles, and the proposals will include ancillary infrastructure such as an external plant and EV charging ports.
The sensitively designed proposals will also include a cycle shelter and welfare facilities, external lighting, security gates, 9 cycle bays and fencing and a guard hut.
At present, the majority of operators in the local area do not have the space to store their own fleet of vehicles on site or nearby at one secure location, and also lack the ability to charge them overnight which is one of the factors hindering the transition to an electric van fleet.
With the increased adoption of electric vehicles, it is not feasible for all van drivers to charge their vehicles at home. Facilities like these proposed fleet storage and electric charging facility support the transition to electrification of van fleets by providing a convenient location for EVs to be kept and charged overnight ready for the following morning.
There are also wider benefits associated with electric vehicles, including carbon reduction, reduced noise pollution and a better general environment for drivers.
A package of technical documents is currently being prepared as part of the application submission. This will assess the impacts of the proposals and suggest ways in which this could be mitigated.
The intention of the facility is that drivers will collect the van in the morning and depart at a scheduled time to arrive at the warehouse for loading. The vehicle will then undertake its defined route and will return to the facility at the end of the day to be stored overnight to charge.
Infinium will review all feedback received.
